Delta Faucet Company - A Brief History

Delta Faucet CompanyThe Delta Faucet Company creates faucets that are exceptionally well-made, stylish, and beautiful! Look no further you've found the perfect brand for your kitchen, bathroom, or shower...and they have an interesting story to tell...

Delta faucets interesting facts...

Most people don't realize that the Delta Faucet Company is a wholly owned subsidiary of Masco Corporation, one of the world's leading manufacturers of home improvement and building products and that Delta sells products in more than 53 countries and sells more than a million faucets a month.

It's no wonder that they're a worldwide leader in faucets and related kitchen and bathroom accessories!

Delta has from it's very humble beginnings been innovative and on the cutting-edge. Starting with the first successful washerless ball valve faucet that was developed in 1954 by Alex Manoogian. He called it the Delta faucet. He got the idea because the faucet's cam was in the shape of the fourth letter of the Greek alphabet…“delta.”

As with any great company it begins with bold moves. At a time when his contemporaries weren't perhaps as open-minded as Mr. Manoogian, he made a decision that changed the course of plumbing history by perfecting a single-handle, washerless faucet that he and his representatives sold...often times out of the trunks of their cars in Detroit, Michigan!

As a side note...The Manoogian Mansion is the official residence of the mayor of Detroit, Michigan. It was built in 1928 for $300,000, and the owner lost the home during the Great Depression. Masco Corp. founder Alex Manoogian purchased the home in 1939, and in 1966 the Manoogians donated the mansion to the City of Detroit. It was the Armenian immigrant's way of thanking his adopted hometown.
